Start with your building

A project that fits your operations.

A warehouse or industrial property may contain high-bay storage, conditioned offices, production areas, and equipment with very different loads. We help owners and facility managers separate those uses before building an energy project around them. Start with the work already under consideration: lighting replacement, HVAC improvements, a roof project, or a process-related efficiency idea. A documented inventory and real operating schedule make it easier to identify the right utility review. Larger or unusual scopes may require a custom approach with a defined baseline rather than a standard equipment assumption.

What determines eligibility?

  • CPS Energy Commercial Solutions includes commercial and industrial electric customers; Austin Energy projects need review under its applicable commercial offerings.
  • Conditioned space, unconditioned storage, process loads, and office areas should be distinguished in the scope.
  • Custom projects require utility agreement on the proposed savings approach and supporting evidence; an industrial building label alone does not qualify equipment.

Your utility confirms eligibility, approved measures, incentive amounts, and funding. Review requirements before purchasing or installing equipment.

Where to look for improvements

Consider the whole building.

Start with these opportunities for warehouses and industrial facilities. The program pages below cover the broader measure lists and utility requirements.

High-bay and task lighting

Review fixtures, operating hours, controls, and the way individual work zones are used.

HVAC and building improvements

Assess eligible conditioning equipment and envelope work for the spaces actually served.

Motors and custom efficiency

Screen proposed motor, control, or process-related improvements under the relevant utility’s published and custom pathways.

Match the property to the program

Your utility. Your next step.

Choose the program serving your electric account. An Austin or San Antonio mailing address alone does not establish eligibility.

Plan around your people

Make the work easier to coordinate.

A useful scope accounts for access, equipment, and the people who use the property each day.

Separate the load types

Distinguish production, storage, office, and support systems before estimating how a project affects electricity use.

Record shifts and utilization

Use actual shift patterns and equipment runtime rather than a generic assumption about an industrial operating day.

Plan measurement early

For a custom proposal, identify baseline records, metering access, and production changes before the existing equipment is removed.

Questions from property teams

Know what to ask before you begin.

Can an unconditioned warehouse have a rebate opportunity?

Potentially. Lighting or other eligible equipment may be relevant even when there is no general warehouse cooling. Each proposed measure still needs utility review.

Can a process improvement be considered?

It can be screened against the serving utility’s offerings and custom-project criteria. Supporting calculations and measurement requirements must be established with the program team.

Should roof work and HVAC be reviewed together?

Include both in the initial scope. They may involve different eligibility rules and timing, but reviewing the capital plan together can improve coordination and documentation.
