Start with your building

A project that fits your operations.

Restaurants bring together dining-room comfort, busy kitchens, refrigeration, and long operating hours. A rebate project should recognize how those systems interact and who is responsible for each one. We help restaurant owners and property managers review the proposed equipment changes, clarify landlord approvals, and identify the utility pathway to investigate. Start with the next planned replacement or renovation rather than a list of every possible product. That gives the assessment a practical scope and helps align equipment specifications, existing-condition records, and installation dates before a purchase is made.

What determines eligibility?

  • Austin Energy and CPS Energy publish commercial food-service offerings; individual equipment categories and specifications must be checked.
  • Refrigeration opportunities appear in CPS Energy’s commercial program. Do not assume an identical measure list for Austin Energy.
  • A restaurant’s kitchen, dining, and leased-space responsibilities should be clarified with the account holder and property owner.

Your utility confirms eligibility, approved measures, incentive amounts, and funding. Review requirements before purchasing or installing equipment.

Where to look for improvements

Consider the whole building.

Start with these opportunities for restaurants and food-service properties. The program pages below cover the broader measure lists and utility requirements.

HVAC and comfort systems

Review qualifying dining-room and support-area equipment while accounting for the existing kitchen operating plan.

Commercial kitchen equipment

Screen the proposed product categories and efficiency specifications under the serving utility’s current offering.

Lighting and refrigeration review

Include lighting and, for applicable CPS Energy projects, eligible refrigeration improvements in the equipment assessment.

Questions from property teams

Know what to ask before you begin.

Does every ENERGY STAR kitchen product receive a rebate?

No. A certification label alone does not establish utility eligibility. The current offering, product category, model specifications, and application requirements need to be checked.

Are refrigeration rebates the same in Austin and San Antonio?

No. CPS Energy lists refrigeration in its commercial offerings. We review Austin Energy projects against its own published measures rather than transferring CPS Energy eligibility assumptions.

Can a leased restaurant be reviewed?

Yes. Bring the utility account information and clarify equipment ownership and landlord permission so the assessment can identify an appropriate applicant and scope.
