Start with your building

A project that fits your operations.

Healthcare properties need an improvement plan that respects how each space is used. A medical office, outpatient clinic, and hospital campus should not be treated as the same HVAC project. We help facilities teams document equipment, separate planned energy work from clinical operating requirements, and assess the relevant rebate pathways. Begin with projects already under consideration, such as a central plant replacement, office-area lighting, or control improvements. Your facility team establishes the operating constraints; the rebate assessment then considers the eligible energy scope within those boundaries.

What determines eligibility?

  • An eligible commercial electric account and project equipment are the starting point for Austin Energy or CPS Energy review.
  • A rebate is not a clinical, ventilation, infection-control, or other regulatory approval. Those requirements remain part of the facility’s project design.
  • Separate emergency, redundant, and specialty equipment from ordinary operating loads and confirm measure-specific exclusions with the utility.

Your utility confirms eligibility, approved measures, incentive amounts, and funding. Review requirements before purchasing or installing equipment.

Where to look for improvements

Consider the whole building.

Start with these opportunities for hospitals and healthcare facilities. The program pages below cover the broader measure lists and utility requirements.

Cooling equipment and motors

Screen proposed HVAC, chiller, and motor-efficiency work against the relevant commercial program.

Lighting and controls

Review suitable office, circulation, administrative, and support spaces with the facility team.

Envelope and custom projects

Consider qualifying building improvements or documented energy projects requiring a more detailed technical review.

Plan around your people

Make the work easier to coordinate.

A useful scope accounts for access, equipment, and the people who use the property each day.

Define the affected spaces

Distinguish patient-care areas, clinical support, administration, and unoccupied space in the initial equipment inventory.

Confirm operating limits

Have the facility’s responsible team identify access, shutdown, environmental, and commissioning requirements before scope development.

Document existing operation

Collect equipment schedules, current control sequences, proposed specifications, and the approval chain for project changes.

Questions from property teams

Know what to ask before you begin.

Can clinics and medical office buildings be reviewed?

Yes. Commercial rebate screening can include smaller healthcare properties as well as larger facilities. The electric account, proposed equipment, and program rules determine the available pathway.

Does receiving a rebate establish healthcare compliance?

No. Utility incentive review addresses program eligibility and energy performance. Clinical and regulatory requirements need to be handled by the appropriate facility professionals.

Can a project proceed without interrupting patient services?

Access and shutdown constraints must be established before a work plan is agreed. We use those constraints in assessment and scope coordination; a rebate does not remove the need for facility approval.
